I5 to Grants Pass, US199 to Crescent City is the most direct route.
From Alberta I'd suggest taking 3 Crowsnest to BC, and US95 to Spokane. I90 and US395 to I84 bypasses the BC mountains, Vancouver and Seattle.
I mentioned in one of the other threads that you could take OR42 from Roseburg to US101 is snow is predicted from the passes on the OR/CA border.
