I'd head over to Abbotsford on TransCan 1 then go south to the Sumas crossing which is usually only 5-10 minute wait. After you''re in the US, head south a couple miles and then go west over towards I-5; after you get on I-5 go south down thru Seattle (best between 10am and 2pm) and head towards Olympia. Once you're in the Olympia locale head west to pick up US 101 and take it all the way into Oregon and then California. You won't have to worry about any snow conditions on this route but it isn't the fastest way to Crescent City. The fastest way is to take I-56 all the way down to southern Oregon and then CA 199 over to the coast; BUT this route isn't good if there is snow.
