Best Route to Crescent City, CA

My husband and I are planning our trip west from Michigan and want to go to the Redwoods in Crescent City Area. Need advice on best way to get across Rockies and Cascade Ranges pulling a 40 ft 5th wheel.
  • Keep in mind that the North coast Redwoods are a National /State system of Redwood groves. They start around Crescent city area and go down the coast of California for a good hundred miles. each area having its own attractions. My personal favorites are around the Klamath area and below Fortuna along the Avenue of the Giants. A good way to tour the area would be to plan on two or three campgrounds for the 5er, and venture out to points of interest in your tow vehicle. You will enjoy the journey from campground to campground. The only real bottleneck is going through Eureka traffic. Each park has trails, some extensive, many are casual strolls through some of the best scenery anywhere.

Agree...but I'd take Hwy 30 from Portland along the Columbia into Astoria and then down the coast.
