- ken56ExplorerI came thru Memphis 2 weeks ago and yep, its a mess. BUT, you can bail off on 51 before all the construction, then hit 388 up to the park. Traffic could be quite heavy depending on time of day you pass thru (its always heavy I hear). Have fun.
- jaycocamprsExplorerYou will want to take I-40 around the north side of Memphis. After crossing the river I-40 splits, I-240 south to Jackson MS and I-40 east to Nashville TN. You want to go toward Nashville. Then take exit 2A toward Millington
- RoyBExplorer III40 through Memphis is till a mess. I40 was originally intended to be a straight thru town to get to the Miss River bridge but had a road block detour that still exists at least a year ago when I went through there pulling a trailer.
Staying on I40 I had to make two or three right angle turns but got through just fine. I guess you could do the I240 bypass and join up with I55 and Cross the miss River south of Memphis. I55 and I40 join up again just as you get into ARK.
Not many MAJOR Crossing of the MISS RIVER in that area. Its either I40 or I55 bridges...
I notice most of the BIG TRUCK TRAFFIC all take the I55/I240 bypass at Memphis...
Of course all of this is not helping you get to SHELBY State PARK TN which is just north of Memphis on the shores of the MISS RIVER. I guess I would take the I40 Bridge and head NORTH on US51... Looks like a few turns to get there haha... Doesn't look like any major roads feed the park entrance off US51. I guess they want you to take the TN388 road off of US51.
Just my obversations
