Best Way To I90 from Rafter Bar J Campground

I am mapping out our vacation and our first stop is at Rafter Bar J Ranch campground in SD. When leaving, to get back to I90 going west, MapQuest is taking us on Route 16 west instead of backtracking us back to Rapid City to the highway.

We are pulling a 38'FW and wanted to know if traveling route 16 west is a good road to pull our rig on?

    I will say if you are going to West Glacier first it would be best to backtrack to Rapid City. JMHO

    I read here the other day that 16 west of Custer may have some construction work on a portion of it. Other than that, the route is fine.
    There are several NF campground along 16 through the Big Horn Mountains. There is a dump station and fresh water up close to the top of the pass.
    On the west side of Ten Sleep is a no frills rv park very shady, not too expensive.

    I prefer to go back to Rapid City. Either way if you are headed to Wyoming take 16 and not 14 over the Big Horns.
