Big problem on Hwy 299 in northern california

Wow! Great footage. That hillside is a geologist's nightmare -- a mix of badly-faulted and shattered sedimentary and metamorphic junk. It's what they call "incompetent rock." If we get a wet winter up near Redding, that whole hill is going to be a problem for a long time to come. And 299 is practically the only way over to the coast when towing an RV.

I am betting that this summer, 299 will be one-lane each way through the slide area, with traffic control. Long delays.
