- JaxDadExplorer IIIThe Canadian government has already dropped broad hints that further land border restrictions are coming, like those imposed on travellers arriving by air.
Just as with the restrictions on air travellers, there was a lot of logistics to get sorted out before the policies, the same problems of organizing quarantine hotels, meals, parking for oversized vehicles, etc, etc, need to be finalized first. - VE3ESNExplorer

Interesting reading the borders are “closed” with so many Canadian snow birds here in central Fl.
The reason for this, as has been widely reported in the Canadian media as well as this forum and the Snowbirds Forum is as follows:
Due to a loophole in the law, Canadian snowbirds who really want to go to Florida, etc. take a helicopter or small plane across the border, and have their RV trucked across the border where it will be waiting for them when they arrive to their "destination". For example, a helicopter takes them from near Niagara Falls, Ontario to Buffalo, NY, where their RV is waiting.
We wouldn't do this, but many people who don't mind taking risks are doing it. Of course, their return trip to Canada by driving their RV across the border won't be as easy, as they'll need proof of a negative Covid test result or face steep fines. - FionaMackenzieExplorerPort Huron in my opinion will be a little easier, and most importantly, more interesting. Although of course, there is no special difference.
- atreisExplorerWe've crossed at both (pre-Covid) and see little reason to prefer one over the other. Pick whichever fits your route better.

- danorenExplorerThank you all for the info, now I have to wait for the world to come back to be normal...
- Beverley_KenExplorerI've never found much difference in the actual border crossings. To us it depends on starting location and destination. We have friends in Battle Creek MI, the Bluewater bridge is usually the first choice, but we could also use Ambassador Bridge and then west I94. If south on I75 then it's definitely the Ambassador Bridge (Detroit/Windsor). Our last choice is the Detroit/Windsor tunnel, all city traffic, both sides.
Ken - Matt_ColieExplorer IIAs DW has Family in Canada, we used to be crossing frequently. Going into Canada has never ever been an issue. We have passports ready and answer questions and are gone. This true for us both at Sarnia and Windsor. But returning to the US? Even with special credentials, it has often been a hassle. Much more so at Detroit than at Port Huron, but it is still enough different that we will go to Port Huron if it is not a great inconvenience to do so.
I know you did not ask, but Buffalo and Ft. Erie have never been an issue.
Of course we have now not done any of this for a year......
Matt - MfanExplorerWe've always used port Huron.
- almccExplorerI guess it depends on where you are going. We've crossed at both, I prefer Detroit as I'm coming from south of Detroit and the route home to the Toronto area is a bit shorter than from Port Huron. Both crossings are easy and other than the short run through Windsor I get onto the 401 fairly quickly and I don't have to go through Detroit to get to Port Huron
