There is NO duty on wine. The IRT (Internal Revenue Tax) is based on alcohol content and size of the bottle. There is a very complicated formula to calculate IRT on wine, so for general information you could figure from $.17 to $.36 for the average sized bottle of wine. Do the math: 10 average bottles of wine would be IRT of $3.60 +/-.
The bigger issue is the regulations of the particular State that you are entering as far as the total volume of alcohol allowed to be transported in any given vehicle at any given time. The regulations vary by State.
Crossing the border into the U.S. with 10 bottles of wine for personal consumption is low on the border guards priority when you consider their main mission is to prevent terrorists, “weapons of mass effect”, criminals, and loads of illegal contraband from entering this country.
