Many Extranejeros sign up for Seguro Poular. This was meant for Mexicans that are not employed and want some sort of health insurance. It is very basic. AMLO is going to change that insurance. I find it disgusting when foreigners take advantage of a program that is intended for the poor. On this forum probably Mex is the only one that can remember Conasupo. This was a store that provided subsidised food for the very poor. Gringos used to go the stores and buy some of the basics at very low prices. They would stock up before returning North! The IMSS like all public health systems is underfunded. The fees do not cover the cost of services. I would hope that AMLO will not allow Gringos to enter the IMSS. Or maybe have higher fees. Like a few thousand dollars per annum. We have Mexican friends that go once a month to the IMSS clinic to get their pharmaceuticals. Often they have to return the next month as that drug is all gone.
