Branson to Houston

I will be traveling from Branson to Houston last wk of Oct.
I'd like to go to Hot Springs, then about 200 miles a day to Houston,

How is 59 south from Mt. Pleasant?

Any places you could recommend... Have 35' Class A and toad. if poss
would like pull-thru so I don't have to hook/un-hook every night.

Also any hints on Branson places to stay & shows? Are there cabs or
packages from any RV parks you know of? Have bad knee and don't want to walk more than a block at a time.

Appreciate the help.

  • We have stayed at the Branson KOA and would again. They do have pull thrus, and premium pull thrus if you want things like large patios and furniture. Close to the strip makes getting around to the shows a little easier, although traffic should not be bad that time of year.

Taxis are available, but I have never used them so can't comment on them. Showrooms are not close together so some form of transportation is a must, bad knees or not. But using your toad would be more convenient as you may want to sight see a little, or shop at the old downtown area or the newer strip shopping (including Bass Pro Shops) along the river.

There are shows for all interest. Just too many to comment on. Google Branson shows and look at all the various ones available. Have not been to a bad one. And name entertainers are frequently in town for short stays at any given time.

Couple of notes: US 59 would be south from Texarkana, not from Mt. Pleasant. From I-30 in Texarkana there is a well marked exit to US 59/Houston. It is a good highway all the way, bypasses for Nacogdoches and Lufkin.

From Mt. Pleasant, I would take TX 49 to Daingerfield where I would pick up US 259 which is a good highway through Longview to join US 59 at Nacogdoches.

BTW, we live in a small town on US 259 north of Daingerfield.

EDIT to add: 200 miles from Hot Springs would bring you to the vacinity of Carthage, Texas on US 59. There is a very nice in town RV park on Business 59 in Carthage. Just a jog off US 59 would be Martin's Creek State Park if you prefer that kind of setting.

The trip on to Houston would be less than 200 miles.

There are nice state parks at Atlanta, Texas (off US 59) at Daingerfield, Texas (off US 259), and at Tyler, Texas a bit west of your possible route, but one of the best.
  • Search this Forum for Branson and read on. Search the results for words like `campgrounds' or `shows' or `activities' etc. to minimize the responses.
  • Join Escapees for 29.00 and stay at the SKP Park in Branson (Hollister) for a great price. To many shows. Do you like fishing?
  • Hwy. 59 south from Mount Pleasant, Texas from I-30 straight on thru crossing I-20 @ Marshall, TX and South to Houston, is excellent.

You've got to stay at the municipal RV campgrounds RV park right down on Lake Taneycomo River in downtown Branson.

There are all kinds of shows literature in the RV Park's office,

Very nice campgrounds and priced right!
