If you come up into BC on Highway 93 from Kalispell area, the Kootenay region from the border north to Highway 1 offers Lots to see and do, hot springs, scenery, the start of the Columbia River, etc.
Head west on highway 1 to The Revelstoke area that is beautiful this time of year, especially the wild flowers on the meadows in Mt. Revelstoke National Park.
Continue onto the west thru Salmon Arm and the Shuswap or head south to the Okanagan as suggested by others.
You can head north on the Gold rush trail from Cache Creek north to Prince George where you will find many small lakes, etc. that may satisfy your fishing urge.
From Prince George than head east back to Jasper on the Yellowhead Highway via Mt. Robeson, a great provincial park and campground there.
after Jasper come south on the parkway to Lake Louise and then into Banff if you so choose.
In this area monitor any road damages, washouts, closures, etc. due to the recent Alberta flooding.
Have a great trip.m
