CA -86 by the Salton Sea
I am planning to leave El Centro NAS on Dec. 1 and head past Palm Springs to Hemet, CA. Just wondering if Rt. 86 is a good route to take.

As they said, easy route and boring...and sometimes very windy from Indio to past Beaumont.
For more scenery and adventure you could take HWY 78 just past Westmorland up over the hill past Julian to Escondido then north on I 15 to Hemet. Done that many times just to get out of the boredom of the 100s of trips past the Salton Sea.
