calif hwy 99

This is what I remember about the rest areas if they are not closed for repairs.

I-5 at Lebec
Hiwy 99 at ave 200, Tulare
Hiwy 99 at Kingsburg
Hiwy 99 at Turlock.

After Turlock I try to make it past Sacramento before stopping again.

Just a question isn't the Camping World at Fresno a little tight to maneuver there?? I was there at the Grand Opening and from what I saw you would need to get into the Paul Evertt Lot to turn around unless I missed somthing.

I haven't been there in a while, but I've taken my RV there without problems. I think it's been changed since last time I stopped by, but most Camping World's do what they can to accommodate RV's.

I just drove up 99 today and I think the rest stops at Tulare and Kingsburg were both closed. I can't be sure as I don't use rest stops but I know I saw that one was closed but I'm pretty sure both were.

some folks do not like/ use rest stops. why not?

seems to be 2 camping worlds in Bakersfield? which one is best for a quick break

You want the one on Wible Road. I think the other is just a Distribution Center and isn't open to the public. You'll take the Panama Road exit off 99.

I don't use Rest Areas because there is nothing there for me. I'd much rather pull off and into a shopping center where we can go get some food or anything else.

The Almond Tree RV Park off the exit #325 I-5 freeway, halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles has good reviews. Plus what ED_Gee said. Just check RV park reviews. Dick

We prefer 99. The Lakes in Chowchilla was very nice when we were there about a decade ago. The town is not. Bakersfield has a number of good parks. The two previously mentioned rest stops were closed last week when we drove thru. As far as 5 goes, Almond Tree & Kitt Fox are ok for overnighting. We frequent Flag City. It's Passport America weekdays I believe. We've stayed at Expo, prefer Mark J. It's adults only. Check reviews at one of the RV park review websites.

Both 5 & 99 have horribly rough road conditions in places. Around Stockton on 5 was absolutely the worst when we traveled it last Fall.
