I am distressed to hear that the "California cutoff" (where the cars speed up to get in front of a trailer) is not common in other places. I keep hoping that Calif is really not so bad. But it really is worse than the rest of the country. I am stuck here forever, with a two or three hour white knuckle ride through an urban jungle until I get to the open road.
On the other hand, the weather is really great, almost all the time.
And I never tow over 62 mph. That is just fast enough that I am not blocking traffic.
In comparison, we drove from Provo to Salt Lake City couple of days ago and there were as many as 5 lanes of heavy traffic in some of it like you'd find around the larger cities in Ca. At first I thought uh oh, here is Ca. all over again but I was pleasantly surprised to find despite how hectic it was during the morning rush hour traffic that everyone was well mannered and merged properly. Many of the commercial truck drivers were in the left hand lanes (except fastest lane) and it was all very smooth. People simply came and went on the on & off ramps without bothering anyone. Very weird! :D
