Camping/Boondocking Near Farmington, Ct

We are going on a major trip late summer/fall and I have found my "Kissin Cousin" whom I have not seen in over 60yrs LoL......

Anyway her and her hubby live in Farmington, Ct. and my wife and I would love to stop and see her, but I'm not finding any campgrounds and or Wal-Marts to stay at for a couple days. We have a Toad and can travel a little to see her....... Her driveway is NOT a option.

Anyone have any recommendations? Thanks for your time.....

I would stay at Austin Hawes CG right on the Farmington river. It is in American Legion SF. Good trout fishing also.
  • There's a Good Sam park in Bristol, CT, about 8 miles from Farmington. Check it out: http://www.goodsamclub.com/travel/campgroundsandrvparks/generalinfo.aspx?cgid=201520017
  • Black Rock state park might be a possibility. I haven't set foot there myself, so can't give any special recommendations for or against it, but the pictures I see online do look pretty. Google maps says it's roughly 20 (somewhat slow) miles west of Farmington.
