Our first stop is usually at St Andrews by the Sea in New Brunswick, which has a very nice campground. Minister Island is worth a visit. Minister Island was the summer estate of William Van Horne, a turn of the 20th century president of the Canadian Pacific Railway. From St Andrews, we often take a day trip to St John
Next is the Bay of Fundy and the Hopewell Rocks.
Baddeck in Nova Scotia: Alexander Graham Bell Museum. A day trip to the Fortress of Louisbourg.
The Cabot Trail: Like having the Blue Ridge Parkway on the coast. Cape Breton Highlands National Park. We like to state at the Broad Cove Campground on the east side. Can see whales form the pull-offs near Pleasant Bay. Lots of hiking trails. Among my favorites is the Middle Head Trail in Ingonish.
PEI: Several nice campgrounds. Anne of Green Gables.
Note: All advertised as round trip fares, one is only charge when leaving PEI. It is cheaper to leave PEI on the Confederation Bridge (about 8 miles long.) If doing both Nova Scotia and PEI, we would enter using the Ferry from Nova Scotia and exit on the bridge.
I've only touched on a few things. Hopefully others will give you some more suggestions.
