RIV inspection: No CSA check, no propane check.
I imported my 03 Tiffin Phaeton (Class A) on Freightliner chassis on Dec 20th 2012. This is what's on my RIV 'Vehicle Inspection Form' (for Class A and Class C):
-----
Section 1 - Vehicle Information:
Odometer
Corrected VIN (if not correct on printed form)
VIN Confirmed by IC: (needs to be initialed here - IC stands for INSPECTION CENTRE)
Section 2 - Statement of Compliance Label Information
GVWR (in lbs)
Manufacture date : (we weren't sure what was suppose to go there so he put down Tiffins date (not Freightliners))
Gross Axle Weight Ratings in lbs
Front: Next: Rear:
Tire Pressure (in PSI)
Front: Rear:
Section 3 - Modifier Information
Company / Individual that performed modifications
Address:
Modification date:
(this was left blank I think)
Section 4 - Modifications required to conform to Canadian Vehicle Safety Standards. These modifications are the responsibility of the importer. Inspector MUST confirm (x) the following:
__ If this vehicle has been modified, it must bear a 2nd stage manufacturer label (can't remember but I don't think that applied to mine)
__ Please contact RIV immediately if this is a Class B motorhome as it is INADMISSBLE and will FAIL the inspection.
__ Please confirm make / model.
__ Please confirm vehicle class.
__ If this is a school bus please contact RIV immediately at 1-888-848-8240
__ INSPECTION CENTRE : Check this box ONLY if metric speedometer labels if required (mine has dual mph / kph so not required)
__ INSPECTION CENTRE : attach miles odometer label if required (not required on my Freightliner chassis since if you hold down the trip odom button for 10 seconds, it switches odometer miles->kms->miles
__ This vehicle requires a French SRS Maintenance label if it is equipped with an airbag that require periodic maintenance. (I don't think any mhs have driver / passenger airbags, mine doesn't have any so N/A)
__ Air bad equipped vehicles are required to have functioning air bags at the time of inspection (N/A)
__ This vehicle requires daytime running lights. (I modified mine to have them but the inspector didn't even check; he just asked me if I had done it and I said yes)
__ The VIN indicates model year as 2003. Please contact RIV immediately if this is incorrect.
Section 5 - Declaration - Inspection Centre Only

__ Pass __ Fail
Form1 No xxxx - this number must be the same as form 1

I am not even sure if I was suppose to fill out most of it and the inspector was only suppose to do the parts where it said 'Inpection centre' but I just brought the from blank and they filled the whole thing.
There is nothing about CSA, nothing about propane, plumbing, eletrical, etc checks. Also from my experience, RIV only cares about the vehicle side of motor homes (I only sent the recall letter from Freightliner and that was fine (even though I suspect it would not have been a problem to get it from Tiffin))
Hope this helps.
