Reading the exclusion on some sites, I get the impression the exclusion is only if it is related to the things like getting shot by a cartel or a common criminal, even. It may not apply to car accidents, heart attacks and that sort of thing. I have written an email to one company for clarifictaion:
We run RV caravans through Mexico. The routes pass through areas that the canadian government has travel warnings issued. Now I notice your exclusion and similar ones on several other insurance sites. So I am guessing if you get shot by a drug cartel member, you are not covered. Does this also mean if you are injured in a traffic accident or have a heart attack in one of these areas you are also not covered?
Now some vehicle insurance companies like Lewis & Lewis include evacuation to a few locations in the US & Canada. So possibly you are only taking a risk if you are shot & killed, or you may have have to pay your own medical bills in Mexico, which will likely be largely covered by your Canadian medicare anyway.
I will post any response I get here.
