Tequila: Thank you for doing the research. That Atlas policy has really good coverage. It does reduce the $ coverage for those over 70. Here is the wording that excludes Canadians:
"The Atlas Series is not available to individuals who are physically located in the states of New York, Maryland, or Washington; or in the countries of Canada or Australia at time of purchase"
There can be problems with travel insurance when you are not in Canada or the USA. Most Mexican hospitals will not accept Foreign Insurance. Some do not even accept Mexican insurance. If your hospital Bill is $1000 most would be able to use a credit card. But what do you do if the bill is $10,000? Canadian travel insurance companies usually do not pay immediately. They need to get your medical records which can take weeks or months. In the USA most Hospitals will send you a bill. No immediate payment required. Manulife is the worst. They do not pay for many months and will not provide a letter stating that you do have a policy and they will pay. Some of those USA policies will fly you out of Mexico but not to your home province. Only to the nearest approved facility. The policies need a lawyer to check coverage!! When making small claims the payments are usually done with no problems. But have a heart attack and the fun begins.
