Unlike the US and I'm going to assume Canada, when you have a medical emergency, DON'T call an ambulance, flag a taxi. So much faster especially if time is important.
Our neighbor Linda lives half time in Manitoba and half here in Zihuatanejo. She also has a Facebook group called Zihuatanejo, Let's Chat. Her blogs are what are priceless. She decided to thoroughly check out the three private medical facilities here and what she found was interesting. Some, perhaps all, private insurance companies do not provide coverage in any of the government locations, like IMSS, General, or the Marina Naval hospital in Ixtapa. This is the case with our medical insurance with GNP. Perhaps the travel insurance that folks purchase for their vacation has a similar restriction. Good idea to read the fine print.
