Any actual experiences with this Peter. Just that I'm surprised that I hadn't seen it here given there must be a heap of people go down early and then fly back for christmas or medical treatment.
Pretty common for overlanders further south to enter with a 90 day TIP and then head back home for a couple of months leaving their vehicle behind. Always technically illegal but tolerated as long as you don't ask permission from aduana when they have to say no. I've done it from Argentina, Peru, Ecuador and Brazil and I know up until recently people were doing it from Mainland Mexico - but if technology is catching up with us, I'll let them know on our facebook page.
I guess we can still do it on Baja and in the north and south hassle-free zones but just not on the mainland
