Can't fly out while you have a vehicle in Mexico?? True?

Both can drive the car but if the TIP holder is out of the country and the vehicle is now illegal( according to previous posts) can the spouse drive the vehicle? Very confusing. Does KISS translate into Spanish? I prefer the old days when you got a Mexico sticker, they marked your suitcases with a blue chalk and away you went. No Holograms. No computers. Very little paperwork. Progress can suck.
