If you rent a car...
TAKE LOTS AND LOTS OF IMAGES
Let the rental counter see you do this.
Every fender, front and rear..
Upholstery, seats, floorboards, contents of trunk check the air in the spare.
Dents, scratches and stains should be clearly pointed out before you leave with someone taking a picture of you pointing at damage with employee in view.
Yes I know of far too many people who have gotten nicked - sometimes for hundreds of dollars. It is a scam. So is the renter who returns a car full of gasoline only to have someone subsequently siphon several gallons out.
You might think this hysterically funny. A man named Dwayne didn't think it was funny when he pointed out an ugly stain on the rear seat, and the jerks immediately voided his contract and would not rent him another car (Cancun).
It's a scam and it is mostly perpetrated by the scammers who advertise "ALMOST FREE!" to the gullible.
Yeah I met suckers who had to pay hundreds of dollars READ THE DEDUCTIBLE! for a minor scratch r hundreds of dollars for a stain on the seat.
Once you have the photos they'll have you right where you want them.
