Use Uber. It works great in most major Mexican cities. I use it all the time in Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterrey, Hermosillo, Tijuana, and the list keeps growing. Good service, air conditioned, nice and clean people who are interested in making a living or use it part time to supplement while in school. No question on charges, goes straight to your credit card no tips required. You know in advance who your driver is, and the type of car with its plates listed.
Airport taxi in Monterrey to my house is 600 pesos. Uber is 220.
Thanks, I did not know they had uber in Mexico, sounds good. How does it work, do you have to register somewhere to pay or they take the credit card? Where does it say how much it cost?
Go to the Uber webpage and sign up as a rider. You give them your credit card information and you are good to go. The beauty of Uber for business in Mexico is that for all my expenses I need an official registered invoice. With an airport taxi it takes an email, a webpage, filling in lots of blanks to get it. With Uber I do nothing. Once the ride is completed, in less than five minutes I get an email with the amount and my invoice via PDF.
When you use the Uber page on your smartphone, it sees your location. You can also see little cars hovering around where you are and you put in your destination (if unsure or not exact the Uber driver can change it when you get in the car). You hit enter, it tells you the price for the ride, how many minutes it will take and you can track the car on the map. It shows the driver's picture, type of car and license plate.
Best part is that they offer you promotions and free trips. You should get one your first time around.
So easy, fast, and cheap. It's international so your account is good anywhere.
