My thoughts....
Take the Interstates to Idaho Falls then route 20 to West Yellowstone. No mountain driving on route 20.
Shortest route to Grand Teton from West Yellowstone is through the Park. Some mountain driving involved, but nothing too taxing. Longer, but flatter route is to go back to Idaho Falls then take route 26 to Alpine and head north on 189/191 to Jackson.
From West Yellowstone to Sheridan, most level route is 191 to I90.
