We should clarify this, when retired VSP, said that he got 'no change' he meant that he just got Canadian change, he didn't get American change.
I am continually amazed that American tourists expect their money to be accepted everywhere, when in their own country, foreign money is thrown back! I often hear very loud arguments (one sided) in our stores downtown, with the phrase 'funny money' being thrown around.
