I agree, date slippage is likely, although at least one House or Senate member (I forget which) is pressing for penalties if that occurs. I won't be surprised if the already dominant E-ZPass system comes out on top technically, but we'll just have to wait and see... :)
The problem with EZ-Pass (as I understand) is it can't be configured to be car (two axle) in the morning and a multi axle tow vehicle and trailer next.
The higher "tech" system some states use have no problems with things like that.
They can also have multiple vehicles, with different axle counts, on the same account with no problems.
So a business can have a car and a double truck, and both get charged the correct amount.
I currently have an E-ZPass for our toad, and two E-ZPasses for our coach, all on the same account. The only reason I have two for the coach is to enable our NY Thruway Motorhome Plan where we only get charged passenger car per axle rates for the coach, both with and without the toad in tow, that calls for two different vehicle classifications. Otherwise the vehicle class and axle count would be determined at the individual toll booths, as it is in most other E-ZPass states.
