I will be traveling west on I 90 from NY State on my way to Yellowstone. Is there a better way around Chicago than staying on I 90? I have a Class A gasser towing a jeep. Appreciate the help.
On our way to Michigan from Texas we always swing over Highway 24 from Illinois to Indiana and take IH-65 north. You could detour south but it would be out of your way.
They say if you time it correctly, very early or very late or on a Sunday, you will go through without any problems.
Have made that drive many time. Just be prepared. You never know what the traffic will be like.
That is just my 2 cents. (but haven't traveled that way recently)
