Unfortunately, had Canada, the U.S., and Mexico followed those precautions initially, we wouldn't be in this current situation, less death and severe life-long illnesses, a rapid return to a vibrant economy, and free to travel all of North America. - playaboyExplorerIt appears that Canada has decided not to open their land border for months to come. Canadians RVer's should prepare for workarounds or be locked down for another winter.
Canada to lift some border restrictions July 5; next steps months awayhttps://www.reuters.com/world/americas/canada-lift-some-border-restrictions-july-5-foreign-travelers-still-excluded-2021-06-21/?fbclid=IwAR0rIshwZwHpkl6wRWK0YnjIAv3jBBlOL0ZDFZD8H4J5rrdaS1FaLd-t53Y
Here is some of the "Science" Canada is using.
"Trudeau addressed this on Friday at a press conference, acknowledging the ongoing border closure “is frustrating.”
He explained that although fully vaccinated Canadians wanting to travel may be protected against hospitalizations, “it does not protect the community around you from catching COVID-19 from you.”
REALLY???????

If only your or my wishes had any weight. They have already extended the closure to the 21st of JULY - not June.
With such a low number of active cases In Canada it is safer for the US (and Mexico) to let Canadians in, than for Canada to open its border to anybody. But I don't think the unilateral end of the closure is going to happen, this will cause too much political tensions.
OTH, active cases in Mexico are - very likely - same high as in the USA, their 0.16 per 100 people is a joke because they only test very sick people. I wrote this before, Mexico now have as many active cases as the USA and ~50 times more than in Canada. They just don't report it. It won't make things worse if the US open their border with Mexico Northbound, since both countries are in the same shape now. Had Mexico kept their border closed all this time, they could've flattened/delayed the number of active cases (and deaths), but this ship has already sailed. - playaboyExplorerCanada can stay closed for as long as they want. Mexico: 0.16.
Mexican numbers are severely under-reported according to their health authorities.
The latest estimates are 660,000 deaths. - AlmotExplorer IIIFor those in Canada, - they've just extended the closure to July 21.
Before getting mad at those in power (in Canada) and talking about cases dropping, here are the numbers of active cases per 100 people:
USA: 1.51
Canada: 0.03
Mexico: 0.16.
Mexican numbers are severely under-reported according to their health authorities. - AlmotExplorer IIII don't know about Guerrero. Nation-wide the picture doesn't inspire confidence: Daily cases and deaths. Look at the period from May15 to June 15 - no signs of drop. Same in both Bajas, no drop and there is a distinct spike in the last month: https://datos.covid-19.conacyt.mx/.
Vaccination rate in Mexico is on the 12th or 13th place in Latin America, after Brazil and Argentina:https://www.statista.com/statistics/1194813/latin-america-covid-19-vaccination-rate-country/
Immunity doesn't last forever, likely less than a year. By the time we finish vaccinating 70% in the US and Canada, those vaccinated in February will already start losing immunity. In Mexico they will be playing catch-up for years to come. - Talleyho69ModeratorCurrently in Mexico the educators, medical personnel, pregnant women and anyone 40 and older has had the ability to get vaccinated. Here in Guerrero the numbers have dropped dramatically.
In my opinion the vaccinations here are moving along nicely, much better than in many other countries.
Just back from the store and we ran into one of the health officials. He stated that the 30 to 39 year olds will be receiving their vaccines very soon, before the second dose for the 40+ year olds. - AlmotExplorer IIII'm pretty sure that we'll see another wave this fall, in the US and Canada. Might not be as bad as the last one, but I'll be surprised if there won't be a wave. 20-30% of people will refuse to be fully vaccinated, and with Delta being more contagious many of them will contract it. CAN-US border opening is a political matter, they might partially open it this summer and then close again in the fall.
In Mexico cases have not been dropping for the last 4 weeks and trend a little upwards - their absolute numbers are not credible, they don't test unless you're really sick, but you can see the trend. Vaccination goes very slowly there.
