IMHO, CO 67 is not one of the more scenic back ways along the Front Range. If your goal is to go from Co Spgs to Denver, might I suggest CO 105 north from Palmer Lake. In the rolling hills in front of the mountains, but rural and scenic.
Other roads I might suggest around Denver would be CO 119, 72, or 7 north of I-70. Great scenery and not too much traffic once you get north of Black Hawk.
If you're based out of CO Spgs, take CO 115 south through Penrose. Catch CO 67 south to CO 96 and head west to CO 165. Check out Bishops Castle and Lake Isabel. Then either 1) continue on through Rye to I-25. Catch some BBQ at Obie's right at the interchanges. Then north back to Co Spgs. Or 2) back track to CO 96 and head west through Silver Cliff and Westcliffe, north on CO 69 to US 50 and your choice of routes back to Co Spgs. Parts of this are on the Frontier Pathways Scenic Byway.
Or try CO 67 south from US 24. Pass through Cripple Creek and Victor, continuing on south on the Phantom Canyon Road. This is part of the
Gold Belt Tour. More info
here. You go through the old mining towns then down the old railroad grade. Scenic and interesting. South of Victor, quite a bit of this is graded gravel.
