Colorado Highway 71 condition between Limon and Brush, CO?

I despise driving though Denver on our way from Texas to Wyoming, so I am considering taking Colorado 71 north to I-76 and then Highway 34 over to Loveland to get back onto I-25. Does anyone have exp...

It can't be any worse than the east side of Denver! Besides, just a change will be nice. The drive is half the fun of the trip. Thanks for all the kind help.
