We use a 3 year old Apple iPad with cellular capability because it has a built in GPS. We do not activate the cellular because we use the apps "navmii Mexico"and "gps navigater central Mexico" which are very detailed maps of Mexico which are downloaded and stored on your iPad. You can plan routes and add stops or waypoints along your route. You can enlarge or shrink the map instantly with your fingers to see small details like one way streets and street names. It shows where you are within a few feet and there is no cost other than the initial purchase price of the app of around $15. We keep the iPad charged by plugging it into the lighter socket. Much easier to use than a Garmin because it looks just like a paper map.
