The current exchange rate is 8% favorable to the US. The CC bill reflects the exchange rate at the time of purchase.
We use CCs because we don't have to carry large amounts of cash. And for fuel we get 5% cash back including in Canada.
But check your CC as some like Amex charge a 3% transaction fee.
