Connecticut to New York - Liberty Harbor Marina New Jersey

The Cross Bronx "Expressway" and the GW Bridge are pretty miserable. If you can hit it on a Sunday morning, it is the most direct route.

You can avoid this by going I-95 to I-287 across the Tappan Zee bridge and then down the Garden State Parkway, then I-80 to the Turnpike. It's an around about way to go, but time and stress wise, it's worth it.
