No, this route is not what jplante4 suggested. Take I-95 in Connecticut to I-287 and continue over the Tappan Zee Bridge. Watch for signs for the GARDEN STATE PARKWAY, (NOT the Palisades Parkway). He suggested the Garden State to I-80 and then take I-80 East to the NJ Turnpike.

I would suggest, if you are coming this route, continue on the Garden State Parkway to I-78. Take I-78 East and it turns into the NJ Turnpike. Go straight through the toll booth and you are on the Extension heading for Exit 14C.
