We will be traveling through Ontario and Quebec on an upcoming trip and it's been years since I've visited Canada, so I have a few questions about credit card usage.
1) Discover is our preferred credit card is it widely accepted?
2) Do the Canadian Provinces using "chipped" credit cards exclusively like the European countries?
3) I've read that it's a good idea to get cash back from a retailer such as Walmart as opposed to using exchange facilities. Opinions?
Thanks in advance for the input.

Summer of 2015 we traveled through Canada to Alaska, call your CC companies and informed them of which providences that you are traveling through and how long you plan on being there. Our Capitol One card had no foreign use fee charges to it. MasterCard and Visa are very common card that are used in Canada, just something we learned while on the road through Canada if you need some Canadian curricity go to a Walmart or some other place and buy something and do cash over. This way we escaped the exchange broker's fee , also the businesses are still set up for both chipped and magnetic strip cards we had no problem using our's.
Have fun on your adventure!
