Crescent City CA to Ontario OR

Traveling this route middle August with trailer in my signature. Looking at Crescent City to Grants Pass on to Central Point on 199 where I'll pick up 140 and go through Klamath Falls. I'll stay on 140 to Lakeview where I'll pick up 395 north to 20 east through Burns and on to Ontario OR. People that drive this road what do you think? Road bed condition,truck route,camper friendly, scenic ect.

    Thanks for all the replies. Since I'm staying in Klamath Falls I'm going to go up 97 to 20 as many suggested

    A slight variation would be to angle further north on 62 and 138 around the north end of Crater lake, and pcikup 20 in Bend.

    People have also asked about taking county roads past Silver Lake and Christmas Valley.

    I did Lakeview to Ontario once, that is a long desolate road with few amenities outside Burns so plan fuel stops wisely.

    Good roads, and Goose Lake State Park is a nice stop for the night.
    As an alternative you could from Medford head up and around Crater Lake ending up on US97. Follow that north to Bend and take 20 east. 395 from Lakeview north is pretty desolate, but interesting scenery.
