Cross Country Planning in Late March / Early April 2017

The last week of April one year I-40 just west of Albuquerque was closed for a day because of a snow storm. Many of us stayed right on the interstate unable to move.

You can't count on the weather. If you have a good forecast to take a northern route go for it. If you run into bad weather you'll just have to stay put until the highways are clear. If driving in snow/ice in the West chains will be required so best to just stay put until clear. Add in extra days for your trip. Good luck!
