Crossing US Canada and back conflicting info on dogs

Proof of rabies. Nothing more. Crossed the border mucho times. No problems.in fact it's rare to even get asked about the dogs.
I made a passport/photo ID for each dog. Took a good digital picture. Printed it out. Put the photo and shot record card along with my name and phone number on the copier and ran a few copies. That way, should the dog get separated from us, I have a current photo to show around as well as pretty good proof that the dog is mine.
