It gets worse. On that same schizoid toll plaza I stopped and asked to see El Jefe. I heard a door slam upstairs.

Private robberias like MAXIPISTA are the worst.
Must be something personal. We've stopped many times and they are more than friendly and anxious to talk to us.
Our last complaint was not updating the prices at the caseta in San Luis Potosi on the 57. It was only a difference of 4 pesos, but they needed to update the signs. He was more than understanding as well as after I explained that people would think there is some hanky panky going on. On our return trip the signs had been updated.
Let's get real, if the attendant gives you a receipt for the amount you paid, there can't be any corruption taking place. The concessions are heavily supervised by the SCT and millions of Mexicans use them everyday on their way to and from work.
Too much hype and conversation over something no one here will ever do anything about. It's a forum, full of opinions and very little fact.
This RVing Mexico Central/South America forum has lost so many members that I don't see any pertinent information being disseminated. I wouldn't be surprised if they did away with it.
It no longer serves it purpose. The days of rving in Mexico are short-lived. Just like snowbirds, people are getting older, fuel is expensive, and the hype about Mexico crime has scared any wannbees away. I doubt it would be missed.
As someone said on the snowbird forum, there are many countries one can fly to for the winter that are just as warm, exciting and less controversial not to mention cheap.
