What Winterwolf227 said but...that drop in elevation he mentioned is just east of Pendleton and is famously called Cabbage. The hwy dept treats it in winter with black cinders when snowy/icy, that should tell you something. Also the canyons in the Blue Mtns from the Oregon eastern port of entry to Baker City can be notoriously bad that time of year. Now what sail2liv does is puts you in San Diego then north, don't think you want that. If this has to be done allow a couple of extra weeks and a bunch of extra cash and limp along.
