Persuing this a bit...
The heatwave hit while I was coming north. It was the 5th day with zero warning.
Hermosillo, Sonora has a 1st tier IMSS Hospital. I've been there. I have also been to Scripps Medical Center in Chula Vista, CA. The comment about "having everything" raises my eyebrows. Scripps, has over 40 Electrocardiogram machines and three MRI and seven Cat Scans. Hence no week long waits.
A space blanket to deflect radiant heat plus a large sheet of cheesecloth plus lots and lots of water (like 10 gallons worth) would prove most useful I would believe. The swamp cooler thermometers at the CBP swamp cooler were registering 116F in (in the shade) and 97F output.
Soaking the cheesecloth and wrapping it around me would have helped. Use the space blanket as shade.
Moishe. The first time I encountered 122F was in Cd Obregon Sonora in 1987. My bus had three roof air units going and I feared for engine and tire temps. I holed up in a forty-five dollar a night hotel. in a room on the ground floor on the east side. I actually sat against the large wall unit. I have never known three consecutive years in my life when the climate was not changing.
