DEF Availability

We just bought a new diesel motor home that required DEF, and we are planning a trip to Alaska next year. For those of you who have done the trip, did you have any problems finding DEF along the way?

DEF is Diesel Exhaust Fluid. Here's a link that explains it's usage.

    DEF Explained
  • You can find DEF now at quite a few places. Some truck stops (e.g. Pilot) are selling it at the pump. The tank on my F350 holds 5 gallons. When I check the tank from the Driver's Information Panel, it will give me an indication when it gets to 50% full.

I purchase my DEF at Autozone in 2.5 gallon containers. They have a nozzle for adding it to the truck. I think the price is $14.99+tax. You might be able to find it less expensive, but I go through 2.5 gallons in about 3000 miles, so at $14.99, I'll pay a little more for the convenience. You could buy 2-3 containers, and probably be set for your whole trip.
  • Def is sold everywhere in Canada, all major truck stop and sevice centre's carry it.
