Delayed Opening - Independence Pass/Mt Evan Rd CO
News reports tonight that Independence Pass will not be open for Memorial Day weekend, at the request of several municipalities and counties, to restrict traffic. CDOT will re-assess after June 1 if/when it's going to open.
Mt Evans Road will also not be opening for Memorial Day. CDOT advising that it probably would not open until sometime in July.
In both cases, it's not snow that's causing the delay. The coronavirus and the potential challenge to medical services in the corresponding areas, is the primary reason given.
