Dental work, Mexico

Thinking of going to los algodones for some dental work? Have been checking post of the past, but what about now, maybe in the next 2 weeks? Best Dental for general dentistry? General border crossing, parking etc., best place.

Just walked a friend over into Nogales, Son.,MX a week ago for an implant. She has been using the same Doc for years. What most don't know is most of the Docs live in the USA and cross over each day. AND a lot of them are USA trained. BUT makes no diff as a couple of our USA Doc friends are Gringos trained in Mexico and practice in USA! Use common sense tho as they can screw up on both sides of the border.

  • Dr Alma Luna - dra_almaluna@hotmail.com
    Ave B No 102 – Los Algodones, Mexico – cleanings & check-ups & crowns

    Dr Armando Hernandez – jahmejia@prodigy.net.mx
Ave B No 300 Los Algodones, Mexico – root canals etc

We always parked on the US side in the paid parking lot and walk across the border to the dental offices.

While i understand the reality of finances for medical care in the USA, the only question I have asked myself when considering this option is "What alternatives do I have if any of the dentistry work needs to be redone"????

Probably the same options you have at home. Over the years I have had several fillings fall out and never once has a dentist said "no charge I messed up". On the last tooth I was trying to save I had two root canals on the same tooth done by my dentist then he sent me to an endodontist who did a third root canal. Guess who paid for all this. After all this I finally found out the root was cracked and there was no way to save the tooth.
  • We have not been to Algodones but we have been getting our dental work done in MX for many years - and we know lots of other people who get their teeth taken care of in MX. We found the most modern and up to date dental office we have ever seen or heard of in Palomas,MX and also a dentist way down in Valle de Juarez - all are very well trained and experienced and knowledgeable in the latest techniques and materials. If we ever have had a problem they have no problem taking care of the problem at no cost. For serious dental work we know of people who take "dental vacations" flying to MX and staying in a hotel because the cost is so much lower than the US that even with the cost of transport the savings are significant. Doctors in MX are just as well trained and experienced as doctors in the US - some even better than in the US. We know people who have had work done in Algodones but I would have to ask them specific details and they are no available at the moment. I am sure others on the forum will know more. As in the US it is a good idea to check with others about the experience they had at specific doctors offices because they are not all perfect.

I used Bernal Dentallast year and have been very pleased with their work. Quote in oregon was for almost $7K and I ended up paying under $1K at Bernal. You can make your appointment on line before you arrive. Park in the indian tribe parking lot right at the border and walk in; only a few block walk.

I can fly from Boise to Yuma, stay in a nice casino hotel, get the dental work done and fly home, all for less than HALF of what they want here for the just the procedures. Now if I need a "redo" for some reason, I still have the other HALF to take another vacation at the casino in Yuma and get the repair done for free, yes Dr Marquez gives a guarantee with his work.......However, having used Mexican dentists since the 1950's, I have NEVER had to have any of their work redone.
