Denver to Telluride + Ouray - Best Route & RV Parks

We are planning a family (2 kids) RV trip from Denver to Telluride in Aug, debating between I-70 via Grand Junction (est. 360 miles) vs. I-25 S, stopping at Lake Pueblo State Park, then I-50 to Telluride (est. 420 miles).

What's the best route as far as sightseeing, local attractions, better RV parks?

What are some of the best RV parks with views/ kids activities in Telluride & Ouray?

Either way would be fine. Hwy 50 would be the more senic route. If you are looking for RV parks with hookups I don't know of any in the Telluride area. Ouray has a KOA that is not your average KOA park. I have stayed here many times. It is in the woods and has a good campground feel, pinic tables and fire rings. You can rent a Jeep right in the campground and drive over to Telluride to look around and come back over the mountain on Imogene Pass. A very neat Jeep/offroad trail with some beautiful mountain scenery. There is also Ridgeway State Park just north of Ouray. I have not stayed there but it is on a lake and looks very nice. You will also want to go south out of Ouray on hwy 550 (Million Dollar Highway)over to Silverton. It is a true Colorado Mountain Highway. Just go slow and be careful. If you have the time be sure and ride the train from Durango to Silveton. It is great.
