What part of California do you live? The desert is good all winter. Central part of the state has the Sierra foothills and the coast range. Later in the Spring Pinnacles NP puts on a nice wildflower show, as does Death Valley. Numerous private RV resorts and campgrounds along the Sacramento River. The coast can be damp and cold, but many people enjoy "storm watching", experiencing the fury of a Pacific storm then walking the beach afterward to see what washed in.
