Detroit Greenfield RV Park to Port Huron

I am travelling from Detroit Greenfield RV Park to Port Huron, Michigan. Is it better to take I-94 through Detroit all the way up to Port Huron? Or take I-275 to I696 to I-94? The latter route adds about 10 miles to the trip but if it is a better route I will take it!

We will be travelling through here on Sunday July 7.

Thanks for your help!
  • Sorry to bring back an old topic, but I have to decide between the same routes. I'll be heading North through Detroit on a Wednesday around Noon, and heading back South on Sunday afternoon. I'm most concerned about traffic, but also road conditions (I don't want to shake my fillings out of my teeth on a really rough road!)

Looks like Sunday isn't a problem, but what about the middle of Wednesday? Stay on I-94, take I-275 and I-696, or take something else?

Help from anybody with local experience is greatly appreciated!
  • On a Sunday either route will be OK. Check out MDOT for local road work. There were signs about new construction starting today when we drove up to Port Huron and back yesterday.
