DFW to where in 3 weeks?

DFW to Palo Duro Canyon State Park TX on to Santa Fe NM then to Durango/Mesa Verde CO to Zion NP Utah (if time is tight skip Zion for this trip) to Grand Canyon then to Carlsbad Caverns NM then back to DFW

Nashville is a nice town with a lot of honky tonks and good restaurants along with the venerable Grand Old Opry, The Ryman Theater, Country Music Hall of Fame, lots of night life with every little hole in the wall bar having live music and of course....shopping. Unless you like Elvis, Memphis is not worth a stop in my opinion. A little further east you can make it to Knoxville and Sevierville/Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg areas and the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Lots to do in the area with dinner shows and Dollywood, museums to hiking and everything in between. Another hour east is Asheville and the Biltmore House. Easily doable in 3 weeks time.

Do Google searches for `_______ tourism' and put the town, area, state in the blank space and read what the experts have to recommend.

Sounds to me you are talking about 6 to 8 days max driving. I have driven every inch of Colorado, Wyoming and Utah. I think I would head for the Tetons in Wyoming, maybe do a side trip to Yellowstone and head home, seeing Colorado on the way. There is a lot of boring country to go through on that trip unless you are a history buff, which makes it a whole lot more fun. IMHO the Tetons are the prettiest spot on the planet.

Decisions, decision, decisions. Once pulled up to I-69 and flipped a coin, ended up going around Lake Michigan. Why not just take the road less traveled and get lost. It's a great place and only took me 50 yrs to find.

It doesn't matter whether you go East or West. There's always someplace to be connected. Verizon, ATT or other plans have connections thought out the USA.

We're based in DFW with an outpost in the Bay Area of CA. On our last trip out west, we took the northern route up I-25 to I-70 through Denver then up to Salt Lake City, then I-80 across NV into the Bay Area. On that trip, we had a couple of good days in Manitou Springs CO. The one area we passed through that is definitely on our list to visit is Glenwood Springs CO, with a detour into Arches NP and Moab. That would be my recommendation. The only reasoni I'd go East is to hit SW FL and the FL keys. I've been on the Bourbon Trail--it's relatively intersting if you have an afternoon to spend out of Louisiville. Nashville? Never been--other than good country music, what is there to do there?

You still haven't explained where the three weeks fits in this plan.

I need to work some, but not every day. So perhaps I could work three days, them be off four or something similar. I will need cell coverage, but carry my own wifi pack. I'm not afraid of buying the requisite cell service booster equipment. We prefer to drive one day, or maybe two, then set up and enjoy our surroundings. I may need to make an east vs west decision. That would be east: Nashville, bourbon trail, Florabama, Atlanta home...or west: Yellowstone, Colorado something else then back.

As guy can see, we have been primarily weekenders in the past so this is our longest adventure yet. Heck, I haven't even started talking rig prep yet...:)

Any thoughts you have are appreciated.
