direction assistance requested

Getting ready to go to myrtle beach this week and wondering if someone could assist me in deciding what route to take. I am leaving Rogersville TN. Go down 40 to asheville shows approximately 30 minutes quicker than go over interstate 26. I do know 40 has alot more traffic. I think both have approximately same amount of incline. Just looking for some suggestions. By the way, I am pulling a 42' fifth wheel around 15,500 in weight.

    Both I-26 & I-40 descend out of the mountains at 6% over about 4 miles, but I-40 is _much_ curvier. Expect heavy traffic from Asheville to Hendersonville and some up & down hill south of US 25 on I-26.
